The Modern Mum’s Guide to: Making Holidays with Babies Easier (Part 3)

With all the sunscreen scare stories flying about at present following a slamming Which? Magazine report, it’s hard to know who to trust but I’m still sticking to the brands I know and love and want to share them with you too.
Tried and tested on holiday two weeks ago, Nivea Sun Kids Pure & Sensitive Spray 50+, £7.50 is our choice for our one year old son, Frankie. It offers immediate protection and contains no perfume, colourants and preservatives making it kind to young skin.
Since Frankie refuses to wear a sun hat; repeatedly pulling it off any chance he gets, we lathered his scalp and hair in the lotion too and he didn’t burn at all. This version is a spray pump action making it much easier to apply in my opinion. It can be quite tacky so I applied the sunscreen before we went out and let it dry (something you’re advised to do anyhow).
For me, I like a touch of luxury and highly recommend Shiseido Expert Sun Aging Protection Cream For Face SPF30 50ml, £28 – I love their lotion and creams for the face and body too plus they have an entire suncare range including SPF Foundations and Factor 50 products. I prefer Factor 30 personally as it helps you to tan gradually for a longer-lasting golden glow and more importantly, safely with great protection. It absorbs almost instantly so there is no stickiness plus it’s compact enough to fit in your handbag for top-ups.
Many of us like to enjoy the sun but be sun smart and stay sun safe.
