Passata Dough Ball Lollies & Basil Croutons (Stale bread, crusts, loaf ends – don’t throw them, use them)!

It’s embarrassing when I eat infant of guests but I still don’t eat my crusts! It’s a bit of a joke with my friends but I’m not a fan and neither is my son. In fact most kids aren’t are they? In our family, and many more I’m sure, we also don’t like the ends of the loaves and we can often throw these out along with stale bread. I couldn’t help think what a huge waste this is!
So I developed two very easy food ideas that use all of this unwanted bread in delicious, easy and healthy ways that all the family will enjoy.
My Passata Dough Ball Lollies are fun for kids (and big kids), to eat as a snack and the croutons are actually tastier when bread is slightly stale plus they keep for ages. Great on soups and salads, you’ll get plenty of use out of them. The dough balls need eating the same day to enjoy them at their best and are good on their own or dipped into soup. Make them prettier by rolling them in sesame seeds or pressing poppy seeds into them.
