I recently visited the Peacheyboo store in Brighton, a sassy childrens wear label designed and made in the UK, and run by mother-daughter duo Lesley and Hannah Peachey.

Chatting to Hannah, she shared the inspiration behind all the cute (but not over cute) and quirky designs, stating that it was her childhood that shaped the collections and brand.  Memories of growing up in Brighton, delving into the sweet shops of The Lanes and baking with her Nan influence everything from the candy striped store front to the sugar mice print and recipe bibs.

Every product has a name, such as these Brighton Rock striped trousers (below), plus the entire range is unisex so there is no gender categorising here; if the kids like it, they can wear it.  Simple.

You’ll find a smattering of other select brands too, such as the delectable Wolfie + Willow, plus ideas for stocking fillers this christmas, such as these hilarious scratch mitts.

Overall, I found Peacheyboo a refreshing change to some of the other childrens wear labels out there due to the versatility, humour and style of the range.  Items can be mixed and matched, the brand has a warm personality – much like the owners and staff – and the clothing will help your little ones express their uniqueness without being pigeonholed, generic nor sickly.  I mean, there are only so many cuddly clowns, bows and bears we can all take.

My only bugbear is that I wanted more from them – more of their quirkiness not just for the current offering of 0-3, but for ages up from that, for my home, for the kids accessories.  I was therefore thrilled to discover that the Peacheyboo AW17 collection will see the introduction of a kids range extending up to 11 years with new designs, prints and the usual 100% cotton and organic materials.

After meeting Hannah, I’m convinced Peacheyboo is only going to get bigger and better, taking over the world one candy stripe at a time.
