Family recipe: Betty’s Biscuits
Posted March 16, 2016 by Bethanie Lunn
When i was younger my nan was forever baking, it was a great way to pass the time on a rainy afternoon and i would always look forward to helping out (especially licking the spoon!)
One of my favourite recipes that i continue to make is her biscuits. The beauty of this particular recipe is that most of the ingredients are basics you usually have lying around in the cupboard. So if you have a last minute tea party coming up, this recipe is for you!
You will need:
20z Caster sugar
1 tablespoon of golden syrup
1/2 teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda
PRE-HEAT OVEN TO 180.c
Step 1: Mix dry ingredients together until they are combined.
Step 2-Melt the butter in a pan and add the golden syrup, once it has formed a liquid, add to dry mix and stir.
Step 3-Once you have your dough create cookie shapes onto a floured baking tray with enough space for them to expand.
Step 4 -Place in the oven and bake for 10 minutes.
Step 5– Take 5 minutes and enjoy with a cuppa.
What’s your go-to rainy day recipe?
