Easy & Healthy Halloween Food (that even a novice like me can do)
Posted October 30, 2015 by Bethanie Lunn
Halloween strikes tomorrow, it’s not normally a holiday I tend to celebrate but this year I’m looking forward to it. I’ve not gone to the levels of decorating my house and carving pumpkins, i’m not there yet!..but I have made some fun and healthy dishes for my son to enjoy. Alright then, and for me too.
They each make a healthy change to the copious candy consumption and are so easy, even I can do them. I’m no food artist, as you can see, but this is a real mums attempt so yours should look pretty similar. Share your creations with me on twitter or instagram. Enjoy!
Uses: black olives for the hair, green pepper for the head, mushrooms for the bolts, hummus for the eyes (topped with black olive cuts for the pupils). I have roasted the pepper and filled it with rice beneath it so it’s fun and filling when he lifts it up.
Uses: Bannanas (obviously), apple fangs and raisin eyes / mouth – stuck on with chocolate spread.
Uses: Lips are cut from apples and then ready-cut almonds are gently pushed into the soft skin of the apple to create fangs. I dipped two of the almond slices into tomato juice for a dripping blood effect. You can use kethcup or raspberry juice too.
Uses: a satsuma, with the flesh scooped out and eyes and mouth cut in, filled with grapes for gruesome green brains and a spiky, slimy strawberry tongue.
See – quick, easy and healthy ideas. What Halloween plans do you have?
